Sunday Replay : Christmas Rock Night Edition

This Sunday, we elected to not have our regular Sunday gathering so we could prepare for the community Christmas Rock Night.  Here’s how it all went down…

  • Several years ago I had this vision to gather other churches and the community around Christmas time to celebrate the birth of Christ.  I didn’t want to just do something for our church.  I wanted all believers and others to come together to celebrate.  But I wanted it to be different.  Thus, Christmas Rock Night was born.
  • Rock Night is simple; Jesus, worship, rock n roll.
  • HUGE thanks to Ridgepoint Church and their band, High Places Church for hosting and all the volunteers and band from the Ridge for making it a great success!
  • I seriously expected somewhere around 100-150 people. I was blow away when there was double that in the house!  Looks like around 300 people or so in attendance! Gotta love that!
  • I think the best part of the night was sharing communion and watching everyone come down to partake.  The Ridge band was playing With Everything in the background and it was amazing just watching people worship.
  • Hats off to the band at Ridgepoint for kicking the night off! Fantastic job!
  • When we do big events, I like to sort of fade into the background and watch others step up and lead.  Everyone did that and more for Rock Night.  Robert Melton at Ridgepoint, Denira who produced the entire night, both bands that played and led worship for the evening, those who served food, child care workers and all those people who showed up 5 hours early to set the whole thing up.
  • After it was over, all the comments I heard were very positive and I think everyone had a great time.
  • Oak Ridge….I think you made God smile last night.  Looking forward to next year!
