Really? Merry Christmas?

Today as I heard the song “We Wish You A Merry Christmas”, I begin to think about those that are hurting, lost, and abandoned of hope during Christmas.  For lots of us, we hear a Christmas song and it brings about joy, excitement, cheer, and fond memories.  But for some others, there’s nothing.  No joy.  No warm cheer.  No excitement and curious anticipation of things to come on Christmas.

Be mindful, not just during the Christmas season, but during all seasons, that for some people, there is no merry Christmas.  Never stop spreading the joy of the birth of Christ and the celebration of that occasion, but also be ready to feel the need, the hurt, the anguish, and the pain of others during the Christmas season.   What better way to celebrate the birth of Christ than to be the light of Christ to someone who just needs hope.  You may be the very one to help usher in the hope they need, by being the only bit of Jesus they may see during Christmas.  See a need…meet a need.  Stop talking the good game and win the game.  This Christmas, let hope rise.
