Behind The Ridge

Behind The Ridge is exactly what it sounds like….a look behind the scenes at the process of planting a new church in Oak Ridge Tennessee, The Ridge Community Church!  It’s my hopes that you can learn something from us, even our mistakes!

• Sunday night at our Launch Team experience, we had our largest crowd yet…almost 40 people!
• The stage set up and lights get better every week!  The set up crew and light crew are doing an awesome job at finding the right mix to have a top rate stage at a fraction of the cost!  Amazing at what you can do when you pay attention to detail!
• Lighting for your stage does not have to be expensive to be good!  I can’t tell you the difference it’s made for us to pay attention to the details and do it right…and under budget!
• Our crew did an amazing job at making our own pipe and drape…we spent maybe $200 on 20 ft worth of pipe and drape that looks like it was manufactured by the pros!  Again…details!
• This week we are making one of our most important purchases for the Sunday worship experience…the media computer!  We’ve decided to go Mac and use a Powerbook with ProPresenter.  
• The next big purchase for us will be the website.  We probably should had spent the coin on this earlier, but…we didn’t .  Your web presence is HUGE!  If you’re not putting the money into a website and the time to use social networking, you’re making a HUGE mistake!  Good luck reaching the 35 and under crowd
• The battery give away was a MAJOR success!  We got a lot of funny looks when people asked why we were giving away batteries that didn’t cost a dime.  But it was great to go out into the community and give something back just to let people know we love them and care for them.
• We gave away batteries to over 1000 families in Oak Ridge!  Wow!
• They’ll be a write up in the Oak Ridger later this week
• Been spending a great deal of time working with our Worship Coordinator to get things settled and organized.  After a few meetings, discussions and decisions, I think we’re there and rocking!
• Next on the agenda is to make BIG things happen with our Children’s and Student’s ministries!
