Serving the Community One Battery at a Time

This Saturday The Ridge is setting out to to awaken Oak Ridge with the love of Christ, one 9v battery at a time. We are heading out to give away 9v batteries to residents living around the area we are planting in to remind them to change their smoke detector batteries, to set their clock backs one hour, AND, to let them know that Christ loves them.  During the process, maybe we’ll have a chance to engage people in conversation about Christ and the church.

The whole purpose our church was started was so that people who are distant from God will be awakened to life in Christ.  We believe that going to them, where they live, not just opening our doors on Sunday and expecting people to just “show up”, is how we are going to reach the community of Oak Ridge. So this Saturday, we will give people a “Ridge Bag.”  It’s a white bag with our logo and web address, a 9v battery, an official invite card, and another explaining why we are doing what we are doing, just in case they don’t get to talk to us in person.  It’s our hope that people will see that we are a church that not only loves God, but also loves them like we love ourselves and cares about serving them without the stipulation of coming to our church first….one battery at a time.
